Summary of this proficiency test:
On 28 January 2011, the proficiency test on REN/Food-Ethanol (iis10C12b) and the proficiency test on liqueurs (iis10C12c) were finished. and fuel/Bio ethanol on 8 februari 2011 All PTs started 27 October 2010 (see message “Proficiency Test on Ethanol started” on this website) when the samples were distributed.
In iis10C12b 33 participants from 17 countries have participated, in iis10C12c 21 participants from 10 countries and in iis10C12a 60 particiants from 25 countries.
The participants were requested to determine Acidity, Aldehyd content, Anorganic Chloride, Appearance, Density @ 20°C, Nitrogen, Nonvolatile matter, Organic Chloride, pHe, Sulfate, Total sulfur, Water (coulometric), Water (titrimetric), Copper, Phosphorus, Purity , Acetone, Acetaldehyde, Acetal, Benzene,Cyclohexane, Crotonaldehyde, DEG, DIOXANE,Ethylacetate, Iso Amylalcohol, Iso Butanol, Iso Propanol,MEG, Methanol, n-Amylalcohol, n-Butanol, n-Propanol, Sec-Amylalcohol, sec-Butanol, tert-Amylalcohol, tert-Butanol, Other impurities, Permanganate time @ 20°C, Purity on dry basis, Strength and UV absorbance.
The proficiency test report summarises per test, the test results, the analytical methods reported by the participants and the z-scores calculated by iiis for each participant are tabulated. Also, for each test, the calculated summary (e.g. mean, standard deviation and reproducibility) is given.
In the report also an evaluation of the test results is given. Problems encountered in the analyses are mentioned and - where possible - suggestions for quality improvement are formulated. For each test a comparison is made between the results of the group of participants and the requirements given by the relevant standard (e.g. ISO, DIN, ASTM).
