Summary of this proficiency test:

On 1 February 2012 the proficiency test on MTBE   started with 20 participants from 14 different countries.

On that date, the samples were despatched to the laboratories. Enclosed to the samples were the instructions to the participants for this proficiency test, forms for the reporting of the analysis results and the material safety data sheet (MSDS).

The MTBE samples have to be analyzed on: Appearance, Water, Carbonyls, Refractive index, Density @15C, Purity, Purity on dry basis and some GC- impurities: Diisobutylenes, Methanol, t-Butylalcohol, C4-, C5- and Other hydrocarbons.

The deadline for reporting results is set on 2 March 2012. A laboratory that sends in results after deadline will definitely not get direct feedback in case any of its results are suspect! So be in good time to get the most out of this proficiency test.
