On 16 April 2014 the proficiency test on Base Oil started with 44 participants from 25 different countries.

On that date, the sample was dispatched to the laboratories. Enclosed to the sample was the instructions to the participants for this proficiency test, a form to confirm sample receipt and the safety data sheet (SDS).

The samples can be analyzed on: Acid Number, Air-Release Time, Colour, CCR, Density @15@°C, Flash Point COC, CCS-viscosity, Kinematic viscosity @40@°C, Kinematic viscosity @100@°C Viscosity Stabinger @40@°C, Viscosity Stabinger @100@°C, Viscosity index, Evaporation loss by Noack test, Pourpoint, Rust Prevention,Sulphur and Water.

The deadline for reporting results is set on 16 May 2014. A laboratory that sends in results after deadline will definitely not get direct feedback in case any of its results are suspect! So be in good time to get the most out of this proficiency test.
